Non-Surgical Endovenous Laser Treatment (EVLT)
No-Surgery and No-Scar Varicose Vein Treatment in Fargo, North Dakota
Do you remember life before bulging, twisting, and unsightly varicose veins? You can have that freedom again with the EVLT procedure. Tens of millions of people - up to 40% of women and 25% of men - suffer from varicose veins and spider veins. Traditionally, painful surgery was the best treatment option. Now there's safe, fast, and comfortable EVLT, a minimally invasive procedure.
EVLT eliminates varicose veins at the source. Faulty valves in veins are the typical cause of irritating and embarrassing varicose veins. As blood flows through the veins to the heart, stop valves are supposed to prevent blood from flowing backwards due to gravity. However, if the valves are unable to close properly, blood pools form in the vein, which forces the vein walls to enlarge and bulge out.

EVLT uses targeted laser energy to seal the vein shut in order to help you look and feel better fast. Call or e-mail the Fargo Vein Care Clinics today to learn more or to schedule an appointment.

The EVLT Procedure
- Your doctor uses ultrasound to map out your vein
- Local anesthetic is applied
- A thin laser fiber is inserted through a tiny entry point, usually near the knee
- Laser energy is delivered to seal the faulty vein.
- Walking immediately after the procedure is encouraged.
Recover is quick and easy! You will be able to resume daily activities right away, although you should avoid rigorous activities, such as gym workouts, immediately following the procedure. There may be minor soreness and bruising. Any discomfort can be treated with over-the-counter, non-aspirin pain relievers as needed.
How does EVLT work?
The laser energy shrinks and closes faulty veins by damaging their walls. Once the veins are closed, blood will not be able to flow through thm, which will eliminate vein bulging at its source
Is loss of this vein a problem?
No. After treatment, the blood trapped in the faulty veins will be able to flow freely through healthy veins.
What are the complications of EVLT?
The only minimal complications experienced with EVLT have been a small number of cases of short lasting numbness.
Am I at risk from the laser?
No. As a precaution against accidental firing of laser energy outside the body, you will be given a pair of special glasses to protect your eyes
How successful is EVLT?
Published clinical studies show that EVLT has a 98% initial success rate with excellent long-term results.
